Dojo Rules

  • Address instructors as “Sensei”
  • Beginners will start wearing workout clothes. A uniform is unnecessary until the student learns to fall safely
  • You bow to go in and out of the  Dojo to show respect to the practice room
  • Keep silence to show respect
  • Follow your Sensei’s instructions with respect
  • Learn to count to ten in Japanese
  • Show up 15 minutes before the lesson to help prepare the Dojo
  • Bring sandals
  • Bring a towel
  • Assist in cleaning the dojo before and after practice
  • Do not converse unnecessarily during practice hours
  • Toenails and fingernails should be clipped to prevent injury  to yourself and others.
  • Eating and drinking are not allowed in the Dojo
  • Cleanliness is required (personal hygiene)
